Mary L. Lawson, 88, of Galesburg, Illinois was reunited with her husband, Moe, at 1:14 pm Friday, February 5, 2021.

Mary was born February 1, 1933 in Streator, Illinois the daughter of Walter and Emma (Sabol) Baars. She married William R. Lawson on November 24, 1967 in Peoria, Illinois. He preceded her in death on August 24, 2002.

She is survived by her special friends, Mike and Leslie Kelso, Mike and Julie Wiegand, Kathy Johnson and all their families all of Galesburg. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband and her sister, Phyllis Donaldson.

Mary worked as a secretary for the Department of Veterans Affairs for over 31 years, retiring in 1987. She had lived in Galesburg most all her life and attended Galesburg High School, graduating in 1950.

Mary was a member of the Ralph M. Noble American Legion Auxiliary #285 and served as past president of the Elkette's Post #894. She enjoyed playing cards and participated in three different card clubs.

Mary was a member of the First Lutheran Church in Galesburg and the Mariam Circle at the church.

Mary's wishes were to be cremated with a burial in the spring with her sister, Phyllis Donaldson, in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens. Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Services Galesburg Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.
