Beverly Jean Bush was born April 19, 1946 to Archie Mack and Anna Chandler, Bush in Tutwiler, Mississippi. Beverly was raised in Clarksdale, Mississippi. Beverly attended schools and churches throughout the states of Mississippi, Tennessee and Arkansas. Beverly attended over 13 schools before graduating from Crispus Attucks High School in 1965.

Beverly’s family occupation was sharecroppers. Beverly was a hardworking woman of the President Lynden B. Johnson's Youth Program. Beverly began working as a secretary for the Social Security Administration. In January of 1966 Beverly started her career with the Marion County Health Department where she worked many positions that included: clerk typist, Clinic Technician, Medical Record Coordinator/ Supervisor. The MCHD downsized in 1994 and Beverly took a temporary retirement. In this same year she was s diagnosed with breast cancer, after treatment Beverly remained cancer free for twenty-three years. Beverly later obtained a job at Wal-Mart, where she worked part-time and retired after 15 years. While working at Wal-Mart she returned to work at the MCHD and retired after 43 ½ years of service.

Beverly’s higher levels of education consisted of, Toastmasters International where Beverly obtained the highest level with in the toastmasters club. In the 1970’s Beverly attended Indiana University Purdue University of Indianapolis (IUPUI) where she studied so hard and received an Associate’s Degree in general studies in 1989 and a Bachelor’s Degree in communication 1992 after taking 1 to 2 classes a year.

On December 17, 1966 Beverly married Willie Ray Churchwell and from this union one child was born on September 10, 1967, Marvin Dale Churchwell, Pastor of Life in the Spirit Community Church where Beverly was a member. Beverly attended St. Luke Missionary Baptist Church where she was baptized and sang in the choir. Beverly later joined Greater Galilee Institutional Missionary Baptist Church where she was Sunday School teacher, sang in the choir, drove the church van on church trips to Buffalo New York, most of the time after working an eight hour day. Beverly later joined New Life Missionary Baptist Church to be closer to her mother. On October 12, 1980 Beverly married John Thomas Curley of Indianapolis, Indiana.

Beverly departed this life on January 28, 2021 at the age of 74. Beverly is preceded in death by, grandmother, Mattie Chandler; father, Archie Bush; mother, Anna Bush; three siblings, Otis B., Stevenson Lamar, and Alice Kirkland; and one great-granddaughter, Nevaeh Churchwell

Beverly leaves to cherish her memory her son, Marvin Dale Churchwell and his wife, Eillen G. Churchwell; three grandchildren, Kendra Danielle Churchwell, Jordan Dale Churchwell-Dobison, and Armund DeLance Churchwell; two great-grandchildren, Heaven Churchwell and Nivea'h Churchwell; her sisters Mae Hall, Ann Harris, Inez Edmundson, Patrcia Bush, and Priscilla Bush-Kogo; along with a host of nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.

Beverly’s legacy that she would want her family and friends to remember and take from her life and experiences is to always Love, Support and Forgive one another, and the importance of education, that is what she wanted for her family and friends and everyone she came in contact with. Always remember, I can do all things through Christ Jesus who strengthen me. Philippians 4:13.
