Harriett was the 2nd child of 5 known children to Harvey Carlisle Helm and Sammie Bibb Landrum. She was born in Claremore, Oklahoma, and married Jacque Tinley Smith on 22 Mar 1915 also in Claremore, Oklahoma. They lived in the old Smith homestead that was built by Jacque, his father, and his grandfather. The picture is taken in that home.

She loved to cook, sew, garden, and loved her children and grandchildren. Harriett won several homemaker of the year awards in Rodger county. I remember her cooking jam and her saying "if it doesn't pop, then its not done right." Meaning if the jam doesn't pop of the side of the jar it wasn't cooked right. She always sewed on a viking machine. She always had African violets in her windows and humming bird feeders on her porch.

Her and Jacque adopted 2 children, and there are 6 grand kids. I am one of those 6, and she will always be greatly missed. Requiescat in pace grandma!
