She and Bill moved to Post in 1955. Gwen went to work for the Garza County Farmers and Ranchers in 1956 at the ASCS office. She worked there 27 years. She enjoyed the work with the farmers and ranchers as this was the life she and Bill enjoyed.
Her husband of 62 years, Bill Carlisle, passed away on February 3, 2006. Also preceding her in death are her parents, one daughter, Carolyn Carlisle Stone and two brothers.
Survivors include one granddaughter, Kristi Carruthers of Burnet, Texas, one grandson, Dr. Cody Stone and wife Mary of Bozeman, Montana, two great granddaughters, Korlee Carruthers and Brinkley Stone, one great grandson, Carter Carruthwers.
Graveside services will be on Thursday, February 11, 2021 at 2:00 PM in the Spur Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Hudman Funeral Home.
