Faith is the daughter of Alfred Deacon DePrisco and Marcella Andrea (Crossgrove) DePrisco, Haugh, Hargis. She was born in Wilmington, Delaware after her parents had separated. She has an older brother and sister, William and Andrea. And a younger sister from her father's second marriage, Judith. Faith married her high school sweetheart, John F. Fernandez in 1959. They divorced and remarried. Faith and John have five children, Hope, Charity, John, Ann and Marc. Faith and John have two daughters-in-law, Sandra and Sarah that had great love for and friendship with Faith. Faith's ex son-in-law, Karim adored her and still misses her greatly. Faith did not get to meet her last son-in-law Patrick, but we all feel that he was hand picked by her. Faith also has fourteen grandchildren, Jon, K.C., Brandon, Anthony, Elisabeth, Karmen, Renee, Daniel, Dominic, Michelle, Alexander, Vincent, Joshua, and Andrew. Twelve of Faith's grandchildren were blessed to know her. Although her life was never easy, my mother tried to find the good in every person and situation. My grandmother often said that my mother's heart was bigger than her body. Mom never met a stranger. She loved travelling to other countries while my dad was in the Army. Mom and Dad settled in California to be near my paternal grandmother. Mom worked her whole life at many different jobs. She was a lifelong smoker and found out in January 2002 that she had lung cancer. Mom decided to surrender to the will of G-D and not try to fight the cancer. She died at home on the morning of April 23, 2002. As strange as it sounds, her death was beautiful. We all miss her kindness and wisdom and her fiery spirit. Mom was the heart and soul of our family. When we lost her, we lost the person that knew us best and had always made sure that we were well cared for. Her grandchildren often say that they miss the way she would rub their foreheads with her work roughened hands.
