David A. Allison Sr., age 72, of Granite City, IL, passed away on Wednesday, February 10, 2021 at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, MO. David was born on February 28, 1948 in Granite City, IL, a son of the late Russell Allison and Goldie (Boyle) Allison.
On September 4, 2010, David married Linda Cook in Granite City, IL. David was a faithful member of Freedom Worship Center in Granite City, IL and he loved going to church to serve the Lord. He had previously worked for Dow Chemical and Monsanto. He took early retirement from Monsanto after many years of dedicated service. David always believed in working hard and after retiring he started working at Gateway Foundation in Caseville, IL, as a maintenance man, retiring again after many years. He enjoyed spending time at his property at Gascony Village in Herman, MO, fishing, riding his golf cart and just sitting by the lake relaxing. His greatest joy was spending time with his family, whom he loved dearly. David was a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle and a dear friend to many who will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.
In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death by five sisters, Anna Allison, Neva Allison, Eva Kurtz, Nina Williams and Wanda Mae Renner; and by a brother, Glen Allison.
David is survived by his devoted wife, Linda Allison of Granite City, IL; loving children, Debbie (Chris) Vaughn and Davey “Bud” (Nikki) Allison both of Granite City, IL; dear siblings, Ernie (Pat) Allison of Jerseyville, IL, Mary (Wendell) Chester of Granite City, IL and Joyce Cook of Granite City, IL; proud grandfather to Keri (Scott) Kugler, Kourtney (Rusty) Vaughn, C.J. (Shannon) Vaughn, Kevin (Julia) Fischer, Kyle Fischer, Ashley (David) Kirkpatrick, Parker Allison and Sarah Allison; proud great-grandfather to Tanner Goodman, Taisley Goodman, Calvin Kugler, Cameron Vaughn, Devon Vaughn, Tyler Vaughn, Savannah Vaughn, Dawson Kirkpatrick and Austin Fischer; beloved dog, Ginger; many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
In celebration of his life, a private visitation and funeral service will be held on Tuesday, February 16, 2020 at Freedom Worship Center, Granite City, IL, with Pastor Gary Cook officiating. Interment will be in Manchester City Cemetery in Manchester, IL.
