Winnie Fay Jackson was born April 24, 1933 in Montpelier, KY and the 3rd oldest of 7 children to the late William & Rachel (Holt) Bradshaw. She departed this life on Wednesday, February 10, 2021 at 11:20am in the comfort of her home. She was joined in Holy Matrimony to the late Samuel Preston Jackson on December 24, 1949.

Winnie attended Jamestown High School in Russel Springs, KY. She worked at the Spaulding’s Cleaners in Columbia, KY and then in Louisville, KY, the Powder Plant (IN), and she finished as a babysitter in her own home for all her grandchildren and almost every child in the neighborhood. She loved gardening, cooking, crafts/quilting, camping and was a member of Good Sam’s and D&D Campers Club. Most of all, Winnie loved spending time with family and friends going to Derby/Indy 500 Parties, Backyard BBQs and she loved to dance. She always came dressed in her jewelry, flashy clothes, her purse (“pocketbook” as she called it) and had her hat or flower in her hair to go with. When you saw her and her cup you knew not to drink it as she always had her “high-ball”. She (along with Francis) started the Holt-Winfrey Family Reunion, and she was a family historian. Winnie was the heartbeat of her whole Jackson clan.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Samuel P. Jackson, two brothers: Tommy Bradshaw, and Herlon Bradshaw, four sisters: Mattie Sue Bradshaw, Marcelene “Lilly” McKee, Marshalee “Biggie” Jackson, Ramona “Toosie” Smith, and five sons: Jeffery Lynn Jackson, Preston Ray Jackson, Richard Lee Dudley, Gregory Keith Jackson, William Allen Jackson, and great-grandsons: Rico Kirk, and Damon Martin.

Winnie leaves to cherish her memories her caring children Samuel “Wayne” (Monika), Napoleon Sr., and Emmett L. Jackson all of Louisville, three daughters-in-law, Joann (Richard) Dudley of Aurora, IL, Kathleen (William) Jackson, and Paula (Preston) Fulton-Jackson both of Louisville, KY, and former daughters-in-law Etta (William) Smith, and Maxine (Napoleon Sr.) Smith, and sister-in-law Earlene (Herlon) Bradshaw of Jamestown, KY, Ella Mae Jackson of Columbia, KY, and Laura Francis Daniels of Louisville, KY. She also leaves 19 grandchildren, 49 great-grandchildren, and 10 great-great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. She will truly be missed by all of those who loved and knew her.

Visitation will be on Thursday, February 18, 2021 from 9:00 am until 11:00 am at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions East Chapel (235 Juneau Drive Louisville, KY 40243). Funeral services will be private and she will be laid to rest by her husband at Lebanon National Cemetery
