WILLIAM E. BOWERS

SIGOURNEY -- Willaim E. Bowers, 80, a retired farmer and businessman, died at 4 p.m. Saturday at the Ottumwa hospital after five years of poor health.
He had lived in Sigourney all of his life except for the past 16 months, when he had lived at Elsie's rest home here.
He was born August 27, 1872 in Sigourney, the son of John Henry and Clara Bowers. He was married May 25, 1908, to Mamie Grace Showman.
He is survived by his wife; one son John E Bowers of Bloomingfield route 10; two daughters, Mrs. Freda Fleming of Ottumwa and Mrs. Rose Gibbs of Muskegan, Mich,; three sisters, Miss Mazie Bowers and Mrs. Terry Cox of Sigourney and Mrs. Jack Meeker of Delta; three brothers, Warren, Steve and Ivan Bowers of near Sigourney; 16 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers, and one son.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the Baptist church in Sigourney in charge of the Rev. Walter Clark. Burial will be in the West cemetery near Sigourney. The casket will be taken to the church at noon Tuesday from the Community funeral home in Ottumwa.
