Mary Ann was the daughter of Allen 'AL" Staten and Rosie Lee WILSON Staten. She married James L.(Jimmy) Newton July 14, 1928, Charleston, Tallahatchie, Ms. They had three children; Opal May; Roy 'Bud'Leon and Rose Marie.

Aunt Mary was a nice, sweet lady and a very good cook. I loved to visit them and eat her biscuits, sausages and sorghum molasses for breakfast. I love and miss you, Aunt Mary.
