He was born in Cleveland, Ohio, on August 11, 1908, the son of the late Lewis and Olive Axtell.
He was a former Erie resident and was employed by the American Sterilzer Company as a contact supervisor in the marketing department. He had worked for the company for 31 years prior to his retirement in 1972.
He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Sebring, the Tyrian Lodge F and AM Knights Templar, Zem Zem Shrine, Highland Shrine of Sebring, past commander of the Erie Power Squadron and District Number 11 Power Squadron and a 25 - year member of the Erie Yacht Club.
Survivors include his widow, Mildred; two daughters, Laurel A Bihler of Tacoma and Karen A. Malina of Erie; one son, Albert E. Axtell Jr of Lakewood, New Jersey; and five grandchildren.
Arrangements are being handled by Buckley-King Funeral Directors of Tacoma.
