Levi Reed, well known in Lafayette county, a resident of Lamont left Argyle March 7 for western Canada in search of a home in the cheap lands in that province. After about three weeks his wife received a letter from him stating he had taken a homestead of 160 acres of land and would shortly send for his family. Letters were sent to his address in Manitoba, Canada, but no answer came.
After four months his wife started for Canada to find him, she found where he boarded, but he had gone and no one could tell where. She then sent home for his photograph and got a detective to hunt for him. They started for his claim. Mrs. Reed waited three weeks, and hearing no tidings of him she returned home. It is feared he has met with fowl play.
