Robert was the son of Ballard Bell & Rhoda Jane White. I believe that he and his brother, Henderson, received land from their parents as young men. Robert and Henderson also worked for the C & O Railroad. Both men, carpenters, decided to build a home for their growing families. Henderson had 7 and Bob had 5 living children. When the houses were complete, each liked the other man's house better. So they switched.
