"Relatives Attend Funeral of Former Resident of City

Many relatives and friends in this community were saddened by the news that came Friday evening informing them that Mrs. A[lfred] J[oseph] Negus [nee Helen Antoinette Bradley] had passed away at her home at Palo Alto. Her sister, Mrs. J[ohn] H[enry] Lundberg [nee Susan Ells Bradley], with Mr. Lundberg and their son, Harold, left that night for Palo Alto, and Mrs. A[rthur] G[eorge] Balaam [nee Effie May Bradley], her other sister, and Mark Bradley of Santa Barbara, her brother, left Saturday afternoon for the northern city. Paul and William Negus, brothers of the bereaved husband, went north Sunday to attend the funeral. The funeral was held yesterday afternoon at Palo Alto and the remains were laid to rest in the cemetery at that place. Mrs. Negus was a resident of Lompoc for many years. Before her marriage to Mr. Negus, who was in the mercantile business here for a long time, she taught in the district schools of the valley. For the past several years the family has resided at Palo Alto. She is survived by her husband and the following children: Mrs. Marguerite Barnes of Palo Alto; Frank Negus, student at the University of California in Berkeley; Helen Negus, student at the State Teachers College at San Jose; and Alene Negus who is at home and attends the grammar school at Palo Alto."
