Mr. James “Jim” Edgar McAllister, 70, of Godwin, died Sunday November 4, 2018 at Betsy Johnson Memorial Hospital in Dunn. Mr. McAllister was born June 28, 1948 in Kanawha County, West Virginia to the late Oliver Lee & Cora VanReenan McAllister. He was also preceded in death by his nephew, Samuel Isiac McAllister.

Mr. McAllister grew up in Beckley, West Virginia and served in the U.S. Army from 1971 to 1974. After his military service, he worked for over 40 years as a crane operator with several companies all over the eastern U.S. Mr. McAllister enjoyed bluegrass music, hunting, fishing, and golf.

A funeral service will be held at Antioch Baptist Church in Falcon with Rev. Sammy McLamb officiating. Burial will follow in the Starling Family Cemetery.

Mr. McAllister is survived by son, Jamie McAllister & wife Bobbi of Lillington; daughter, Shasta Culbreth & husband Russell of Godwin; his former wife, Kathy McAllister of Godwin; brothers, David McAllister of Beaver, West Virginia and Sam McAllister & wife Tammy of Princeton West Virginia; sister, Kay Kesler and husband Larry of Anderson, South Carolina; grandchildren, Austin McAllister, Eli, Casey, & Leah Culbreth.
