JOHN HENRY AMSDEN

John Henry Amsden, age 78, sone of the late Frances Willis Amsden and Marcus Amsden, was born in Centerville on March 30, 1914. He departed this life on Thursday, November 5, 1992. On February 15, 1936 in Redford, John was united in marriage to Lore Pogue; to this loving union 15 children were born. John was a farmer and a timber worker. He was a lifetime resident of Reynolds County and he attended the Redford Baptist Church. John like to hunt and fish, and he enjoyed riding horses and training horses and mules to work as a team. John's greatest joy was spending time with his family and friends. John was preceded in death by his parents, Marcus and Frances Amsden; two brothers, Nay and Marion Amsden; four sisters: Emily Amsden, Cliffie Pogue, Lattie Jackson and Hettie Bauza. He was also preced in death by three grandchildren. John is survived by his wfie, Lore (Toots) Amsden os Centerville; seven sons: John Amsden and his wife Judy of Centerville, Eugene Amsden and Robert Amsden of Centerville, Darrel Amsden and his wife Virginia of Owensville, Obia Amsden and his wife Linda of Ellingtron, Herbert Amsden and his wife Michelle of Ellington and Coy Amsden and his wife Diane of Annapolis; eight daughters: Ruth Epley and her husband Willard of Redford, Wilma Rudolph and her husband Paul of St. Louis, Helen Rudolph and her husband, Jim of Centerville, Wanda Landrum and her husband Jerry of Festus, Linda Meyer of Imperial, Brenda Little and her husband Roy of St. Louis, Lela Blackwood and her husband Les of Ellington, and Georgianna Amsden of Centerville; three brothers: Herbert Amsden of Lesterville, Hubert Amsden of Ellington and Beryln Amsden of Bloomsdale; two sisters: Margie Guinn of Viburnum and Faye Jordan of Centerville. John is also survived by 39 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. He will be sadly missedby a host of relatives and many friends who will mourn h is passing. Funeral services were held at the McSpadden Funeral Home on Sunday, November 8, 1992 at 2 p.m. Burial took place at Price Cemetery, the Minister was Rev. Patrick Pyles and music was provided by Antioch Baptist Church Choir. Pallbearers Bob and Eugene Amsden, John D. Morrison, Wendell, Willard and Amiel Pogue.
