George Floyd Riley the son of George Washington and Florence [Quigley] Riley,was born near Boynton September 11,1882 and died at the Sullivan County Memorial Hospital in Milan Friday May 5,1961 at the age of 76 years 7 months and 24 days.He was united in marriage to Viola Walker on December 24,1903 at Green City.Three daughters were born to their marriage.Mrs. Riley died May 19,1931.On February 19,1935 he was united in marriage to Mrs. Mary Babbitt. Surviving are the wife of the home in Green City;two daughters;Mrs. Bernard [Ruby] Beabout,Milan, and Mrs. Glenn [Mabel] Robinson;Trenton;three stepdaughters,Mrs. Jean Myers,Kansas City,Mrs. Lucille Adams,Kirksville,and Ruby Pulse,Harrisonville,Missouri;one step son Robert Babbitt,Kansas City;three grandchildren,five great-grandchildren,eight step-grandchildren;two brothers Johnathan Riley of Green City and William Riley of Searcy, Arkansas;one sister Mrs. Nannie Tharp,Ponca City,Oklahoma.Except for a few years in Oklahoma,Mr. Riley had lived his entire live in Sullivan County.He was a livestock trader and farmer,and was manager of the MFA in Pollock for several years.Funeral services were held at Glenn E. Kent & Son Funeral Chapel Monday May 8,conducted by the Rev. Robert J. Belsey,Burial was in the Scobee Cemetery near Pollock.Music was by Mrs. Helen Kent,Elmer Fisher,and Mrs. Madge Reid;Casket Bearers were E.P.Abbott,
W.L. Anderson,H.O. Cosby,W.O. Wilson,N.A. Griffin,and Glenn Young.
