Reuben Mecklin Yeager married Evelyn Patricia Golden in 1855 in either Kemper or Neshoba County, Miss. Reuben joined the Vaiden Light Artillery in the Army of the Confederacy on 18 Feb 1862 at Vaiden, Miss. He, his father, and his younger brother Daniel enlisted on the same day. Reuben Mecklin was shot in the face and lost his jaw during the battle of Vicksburg; taken prisoner 4 July 1863; signed Oath of Parole 11 July 1863 and was one of 611 prisoners delivered off Mobile Harbor on 4 Aug 1863. He walked home to Carroll County. Reuben and Evelyn Patricia had 9 children: Margaret, Robert Bud, Jane, Nannie, Harriette Emma, Ella, Clarence Linden, Cornelia "Nealie," and John Eldridge.
