Paige walked at 11 months of age. I really don't remember her not talking. I mean talking and being able to understand her! She started gymnastics at age 4. She then cheered for two years. She played basketball from the time that she was 7 until she was 14. She started playing volleyball in 8th grade and had decided to not play her Senior year to be able to get a job. She coached her younger sister Sierra Wright's YMCA volleyball team this past winter. They only lost one game. She was an awesome coach!! She was all about running around in her Pontiac Sunfire with her vanity plates that read "PAIGE 08" with her many friends. Paige had so many friends and family that they said that her funeral was the biggest since the gangster "Pretty Boy Floyd" who was shot here in our hometown and viewed at the same funeral home as Paige. Leave it to Paige to go out like a gangster!
On June 17, 2007 Paige went with her friends out on a lake tubing which she had done several times before. She complained of a headache then put her head down on the raft and slipped into the water. She was taken by ambulance then by helicopter to the hospital. She went straight to surgery and they said that the cyst had burst and that is why she passed out. They said only time would tell. She never regained conciousness although when they were checking her pupils and had her eyelids up one day she did see me, she looked at me out of the corner of her eye. I said, "Paige it's Mommy honey..I love you baby. They are fixing your cyst." She then tried to smile and a tear rolled down her face and I could see that she was no longer seeing me. Then the next day we were told that she had strokes in all of the major parts of her brain. Two days later she was responding to our commands to raise her right hand, to wave at us, wiggle her toes and other things. She still had not opened her eyes though. The doctors could not explain any of that. They said that she should not have been able to do any of these things. Once again time would tell. The next morning Paige had a set back and was rushed into surgery for the second time and it was only a matter of time now. She passed away on June 23, 2007 at 8:30 pm at the young age of 17.
