LaVerne C. Braun, age 91, of Whitelaw, passed away Monday morning, February 22, 2021 at her residence with her loving family at her side.

LaVerne was born on August 4, 1929, in Manitowoc, daughter of the late Leonard and Gertrude (Rohrer) Franzen.

She graduated with the class of 1947 from Manitowoc Lincoln High School.
Prior to her marriage LaVerne worked in the office at Mirro Company in Manitowoc.

On June 2, 1951 LaVerne was married to Donald J. Braun at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Alverno. He preceded her in death on November 21, 1997 and she later moved to Whitelaw in 2002.

Once the children were older LaVerne worked at the Brillion Iron Works in Brillion. Laverne and her husband Donald enjoyed nine years of living in Pennsylvania and New Jersey before their retirement. They both made many lifelong friends through their travels. She was a past member of St. Mary’s and St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, and their Altar Society. LaVerne was a current member of St. Michael Catholic Church, Whitelaw Senior Citizens, Taus and the Whitelaw Homemakers. LaVerne volunteered for fifteen years at Holy Family Memorial Medical Center. In the past LaVerne served as a Eucharistic Minister at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Maple Grove. She enjoyed crocheting, bowling, painting and took great pride in caring for her yard and flower gardens.

Survivors include four daughters and sons-in-law: Jeanne (Steven) O’Leary, Reedsville, Mary (Victor) Grimm II, Brillion, Marjorie (David) Swenson, Berkeley, CA, Joan (Richard) Dvorachek, Houston, TX; one daughter-in-law: Pamela Braun, Reedsville; eleven grandchildren: Jason (Becky) O’Leary, Erica (Shawn) Stelzer, Naomi Grimm, Vic (Autumn) Grimm III, Christopher (Andrea) Dvorachek, Carisa (Luke) Ott, Nic (Stephanie) Dvorachek, Alysia Dvorachek, Joshua (Debra) Swenson, Nadia Swenson, Alexandria Swenson; 19 great-grandchildren; one brother-in-law: Paul Braun, Manitowoc; special family friend: Jim Linsmeier, Dykesville; three special ladies: Jean Walsh, Laurie Mangin and Dorothy McCulley, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends also survive.

She was preceded in death by her parents: Leonard and Gertrude Franzen; her step-mother: Mildred Franzen; her husband: Donald J. Braun; two sons: infant: James Braun, Thomas Braun; one sister and brother-in-law: Jane (Joseph) Yindra; four brothers-in-law and three sisters-in-law: Jerome “Jiggs” (Barbara) Braun, Raymond Braun, Kathryn Braun, Delores (Tom) Reed, Audrey (Charles) Champeau.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, March 3, 2021 at St. Michael Catholic Church, 110 West Menasha Avenue, Whitelaw. Rev. Richard Klingeisen will celebrate the Mass of Christian Burial, with entombment to follow at Knollwood Mausoleum, Manitowoc.

Relatives and friends may call at the church on Wednesday from 9:00 AM until the time of services at 11:00 AM. Friends and relatives may join a live stream on the Lakeshore Family Funeral Home Facebook page beginning at 10:45 AM.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and in an effort to keep everyone safe, the family requests that everyone please wear a mask and practice social distancing. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established in her name.

The family would like to thank Holy Family Memorial Medical Center Hospice, especially Nicole Reno for all the loving compassionate care given to LaVerne.
