Carthoris "Pete" Adcox

March 5, 1934 - February 25, 2021

ROCKY MOUNT – Carthoris "Pete" Adcox, age 86, passed away on Thursday, February 25, 2021 from complications of COVID-19.  Born in Nash County, NC on March 5, 1934, he was the son of the late Robert Ernest Adcox and Katie Lee Watson Adcox.  He was also preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Sonja Paris Adcox.
After a successful sales career with Adams Wholesale Company in Rocky Mount, N.C., he retired to care for and attend to the needs of his beloved wife, Sonja, who was suffering with severe rheumatoid arthritis. He will be forever remembered for his affectionate love and unselfish dedication to his wife, a loving and supportive father, and an overall kind, humble and generous man.
Pete is survived by his sister Gwen Johnson – his last surviving sibling; his children – Randy Adcox (Silvia), Lisa Tippette (Robbie), and Robert Adcox; his grandchildren, Daniel Adcox, Casey Fairley, Hannah Reece, and Abigail Adcox; and many special cousins, nieces and nephews.
A Viewing will be held Thursday, March 4, 2021 from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM at Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral Home.  During the COVID-19 pandemic, the family is requesting the need for social distancing and wearing of masks at the visitation.  A Graveside Service will be held at a later date and will be announced by the family at that time.
The family would like to say a special thanks to the dedicated and compassionate staff of UNC Nash Hospital for their excellent care in attending to Mr. Adcox during his illness. They would also like to pay special tribute to the Bowden family, who were beloved friends and devoted neighbors for over 45 years. A special thanks also to Englewood Baptist Church for their outpouring of love and ministry given to the Adcox family over the years, and for the constant care, support, and concern of the Pastoral Care Ministry over the past few months.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Pete's memory to Englewood Baptist Church, 1350 S. Winstead Ave., Rocky Mount, NC  27804.
