Mrs. Laney Plumley Barnett, age 80 of Ellijay, passed away on Friday February 26, 2021.
Mrs. Barnett was born in Gilmer County on September 26th, 1940 to the late Kiser Plumley and Mattie Patterson Plumley. She was a member of Turniptown Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Jim Barnett; two sons, Randy Southern of Jasper and Travis Southern of Lawrenceville; step-daughter, Jamie Holden of Ellijay; step-son, Timothy Barnett of McCaysville, Ga; three brothers, Jerry Plumley of Winder, Billy Plumley of Blue Ridge, and Eugene Plumley of Rossville; seven sisters, Betty Sue Chadwick of Cumming, Lou Chestnut of Forest Park, Barbara Jo Mayfield of Roswell, Ruthie Parker of Ellijay, Linda Ward of Ringgold, Brenda Coulter of LaFayette, and Cathy Chadwick of Chatsworth; four grandchildren, Adam, Lauren, Nichallas, and Emily Southern; one great-grandchild, Arya Southern; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday February 28th, 2021 at 3 PM from the chapel of Bernhardt Funeral Home with Rev. Steve Jones officiating. Interment will follow in the Turniptown Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers serving include, Nick Southern, Adam Southern, Paul Manley, Eric Maddox, Ryan Tankersley, and David Plumley.
The family will receive friends on Saturday February 27th from 2 PM until 9 PM at the funeral home.
