McAllister, M.D. dated September 10, 1897, in Sapulpa, Indian Territory. According to his affidavit, James W. James died at 3:00 a.m. of Bronco-Pneumonia. Said affidavit was witnessed by two men, George F. Black and T.J. Kay. The most likely location of James W. James burial was determined on November 13, 1989 by the Oklahoma Historical Society, Research Library Resources Division. In their report it states, "We have checked the cemetery records in our files for Sapulpa, Creek County and do not find a James W. James listed. One entry for a James surname without a first name shown was listed in the cemetery identified below... St. John Baptist Cemetery, S. Hickory Road, Sapulpa, Oklahoma. The grave number was listed as 176."
