Joe was born in Paterson, NJ to Joseph and Elizabeth Akshar. He spent his childhood in Clifton, NJ and began his career there as a printing press mechanic for Crabtree Vickers. Joe continued as an Aircraft Mechanic at Eastern Airlines. He then spent 15 years as a Senior Field Service Technician for Bobst Group and finished his career working for GE Power Systems.
The simple things in life brought Joe the most joy. More than anything, he enjoyed a cup of coffee, an early dinner and meaningful conversations with his family.
Joe leaves behind five children, Noelle, Alexandra, Sara, Rachael and John. He is also survived by his siblings Frederick Akshar, Gregory Akshar, Elizabeth Hagens, Jeanne Woodhouse and many nieces, nephews and extended family. Joe's love for his whole family was evident in his final moments.
A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, March 13th at Belden Bethel Chapel in Harpursville, NY, at 2:00 p.m. The family asks that any memories, photos or stories be shared with his children via email at [email protected] or by regular mail to Rachael Akshar, 8819 Jasper Lane, Parkville MD 21234.
