Birth name: "Marilyn" Cheree Hughes, Cheree began her earthly journey on August 4, 1936 in Dallas, Texas, married Dennis Wayne Jeter on November 23, 1963, and returned home to our heavenly Father in the early morning hours of December 29, 2020.

Cheree Jeter is survived by her devoted husband of 57 years Dennis Jeter; her children Timothy Charles Jeter & wife Amy, Erin Michele Singleton & husband William; grandchildren Bradley Denton Singleton, Timothy Chase Jeter, and Madelynn Marie Jeter; sister Michele Hughes Tinch & husband Jeff; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and other family members.

She is preceded in death by her parents Dudley M. Hughes, Sr. and Margueritte Jones Hughes, and by her brothers Ronald W. Hughes and Dudley M. Hughes, Jr.

Cheree was a lifelong lover of music blessed with amazing intuitive skill. She started as church pianist at her mother's church, Trinity Heights, before she even entered junior high school. Playing for church and the radio program at Bethel Temple, she continually served her Lord through music for more than five decades. She was a graduate of Adamson High School then earned a degree in music education from Southern Methodist University. She shared her love of music with the children she taught and blessed others with her music as organist and pianist for the Dudley M. Hughes Quartet on radio and TV for many years, for thousands of funerals and weddings, and through countless hours given to her church home, Tyler Street United Methodist Church.

Her life was defined by her devotion to family, her love for her Lord, and by a quiet, gracious strength that was a blessing and joy to all who knew her. She was the embodiment of the Proverbs 31 woman. An accomplished hostess with an easy laugh, her home was always open with a welcoming table and guestroom, a landing spot for many missionaries and a frequent gathering place for all the various groups and organizations her family was involved with. Cheree was an attentive listener and many sought her wise counsel.

She was a source of comfort and Godly compassion to hundreds of families who turned to Jeter and Son Funeral Home in their time of loss, and she will be remembered by many as a living picture of grace. Cheree will be dearly missed by her friends and family, but we rejoice in knowing she walks whole with Jesus, the One she loved and served with her whole heart. We will forever carry her song in our hearts.
