WAPAKONETA — Joel J. Reissig, 73, died at 9:00 a.m., Tues. March 2, 2021, at his residence. He was born Sept. 10, 1947, in Kenton, OH, the son of Lester VanBuskirk and Pearl Foster, who preceded him in death. In 1970, he married Karen Shinavar, and she survives.

Other survivors include, 3 children, Valerie (Tim Wallace) Reissig, TX, Joel (Kassidy) Reissig, Jr., Ada, OH, Sherry Kaeck, Lima, OH, 14 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, 2 siblings, Larry Reissig, Diane Paul,

He was preceded in death by a sister, Luella Stitle, and a brother, Wayman "Butch" VanBurskirk.

Joel had worked for Rockwell International in Kenton. He was a U.S. Army Veteran from 1966-1969, during which he served a tour of duty in Vietnam.

Private family services will be held with burial to follow in the Greenlawn Cemetery, Wapakoneta, where military rites will be performed by the Wapakoneta V.F.W. Post #8445. Arrangements are being conducted by the Eley Funeral Home & Crematory, Wapakoneta. Memorials may be directed to the Auglaize County Disabled American Veterans Chapter #73.
