William "Bill" Husak, age 87 of Grinnell died on March 3, 2021, at home with his family surrounding him.

Bill Wenceslaus Husak was born the son of William and Mary (Zmolek) Husak on October 1, 1933, in Toledo, Iowa. He was raised on the family farm north of Toledo, and graduated from Toledo High School in 1952.

Bill attended Iowa State University and graduated with a degree in Industrial Administration in 1957. He participated in the Army ROTC Program and received a commission as a 2nd Lieutenant upon graduation.

After graduation he went to Korea for a tour of duty. When his tour was done, he was honorably discharged and he engaged in farming.

On September 29, 1973, he married Marjorie Husak in Ionia, Iowa. The couple resided in Grinnell during their 47 years of marriage where Bill worked at Farmhand, Inc., followed by Clow Corporation in Oskaloosa, and at Fisher Controls in Marshalltown.

Bill enjoyed the simple things in life. He was a longtime member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Grinnell. He loved bike rides, playing Pepper, and gardening. He loved planting tulips. He was an avid fan of Cyclone and Hawkeye sports.

Survivors include his wife, Marjorie Husak of Grinnell; two daughters, Shelly (Todd) Vokoun of Grinnell and Nicole (Nathan) Buchholz of Omaha, Nebraska; two grandsons, Matthew and Jacob; one brother Pete Husak of North Liberty; one sister, Julia Benda of Elberon; and many in-laws, and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Charlie, Paul, John, and Emil; one sister, Sister Philomena; and his Pepper partner Jerry VanOmmen.

The family would like to thank Wesley Life for their skilled nursing care and Care Initiatives Hospice for their loving care.
