Marie Joan Ferre Young, age 84, peacefully returned to her heavenly family, Wednesday evening, March 3, 2021, surrounded by her family. She was born December 2, 1936 to Noal and Caddie Pace Ferre in Vineyard, Utah. She was the eleventh of twelve children.
Marie had fond memories of growing up in Orem where she loved to spend time on the farm with her family. She enjoyed driving the tractor and would of done anything to be outside with her dad. She always looked forward to when it was time to prune the orchard and burn the limbs for their annual Ferre family weenie roast. She graduated from Lincoln High School. She married Robert L. Baum, February 24, 1956. They raised two children, son Bret M. Baum and daughter JoAnn Proctor. They later divorced and Marie married Merlin F. Young October 29, 1977 in Elko, Nevada. Their marriage was soon after solemnized in the Jordan River Latter-Day Saint Temple.

Marie was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She quietly served in all of her callings so humbly and beautifully. Her testimony of the Savior was demonstrated through her complete devotion to serving others. Often you would find her driving someone to a doctor appointment, baking, bottling or making treats to deliver to someone in need, or doing temple work weekly. The many miles on her car, represent, only a few of many lives she touched, through her countless hours of service to her family, friends and neighbors.

Marie’s greatest happiness in life came from her role as mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She put her heart into making her grandkids happy. They will always remember their treasured time with grandma going out to eat, playing baseball with her in the yard, eating her delicious homemade treats, baking together in the kitchen, reading bed-time stories, and especially her heart-felt hugs.

She is survived by: her children Bret Baum, JoAnn (Bill) Proctor; grandchildren Cory (Gina) Hardy, Chad (Jamee) Hardy, Rachelle (Taylor) Brian, Brad Baum, Lindsey Baum; 9 great grandchildren; siblings Lawrence Ferre, Hazel Bowman, and Valeen Giles. She was preceded in death by her parents, 9 siblings and Danielle Bills, granddaughter.

A visitation will be held Sunday, March 7, 2021 from 4:00 - 6:00 p.m. at the Walker Sanderson Funeral Home, 646 East 800 North, Orem, Utah.
