Franciszek Adamiec (the CPR listed him as ”Frank Adamiec”) was travelling from Detroit, Michigan, to Krakau, Austria (in modern Poland). He was born ca. 1883 in Zwerzyniec, Lublin, Poland, Russia. He sailed from Bremen, Germany, 20 July 1912 as a steerage (third class) passenger on the steamship König Albert and came to New York 31 July 1912. He was noted as an unmarried farm labourer aged 28 and his final destination was Kalamazoo, Michigan. His last place of permanent residence was noted as Zwerzyniec, Poland, Russia, where his father Francizek lived at the time. He was 5’9” tall, had blond hair and blue eyes. He was able to read and write. He had bought his ticket for the Empress of Ireland at the office of A. S. Lubienski, 1277 Dubois Street, Detroit. He lived at Medbury avenue in Detroit at the time. Mr. Adamiec did not survive the sinking of the Empress of Ireland.
