Johann Alborg was stated to have been travelling from Maywood, Illinois, to Libau, Russia (today’s Liepaja, Latvia). There is a chance he was the Johann Alberg, born about 1886 in Russia, of Russian-German extraction, who in 1913 came to Halifax on the liner Kursk, listed as a general labourer. If so, he had a wife, Maria, who in 1913 lived in Owlawoki (?), Russia. Mr. Alborg, listed Alberg, was bound for Chicago, Illinois, and had spent time in Sydney, Australia, before coming to the USA. He was 5’7” tall, had brown hair and brown eyes. Mr. Alborg (Alberg) did not survive the sinking of the Empress of Ireland.
