Alexander was on Death Row in Texas for the murder of Helen Joyce Oliveros, age 45, on August 12th, 2001. Alexander had only been out of prison for three weeks, following his parole on a 7 year Attempted Murder sentence. Alexander contacted a local, aging prostitute and made arrangements for her to come to his house for the night, she was charging him $300.00. When she arrived, they argued about the amount she was charging. He refused to pay it. When it became clear that he had no money, or intention of paying for her services, she started to leave. Alexander stuck a knife against her neck, and attempted to force sex on her. She struggled to get free, He slashed her throat, causing her death. He took $150.00 from her. Two days later her nude body was found, stuffed in two garbage bags, out in a field in Houston, Texas. Two days later, Alexander had slashed his stepmothers throat, in an unprovoked attack, but she survived. Alexander was arrested later that day, admitted to his stepmothers slashing and the murder of Helen Oliveros. When police searched his bedroom the next day, they found blood on the bed frame, wall, floor, door, and closet shelves. Most of the blood matched that of Ms. Oliveros. Alexander later had a tattoo put on his arm that read..."RIP, August 12,2001, $300, Helen Joyce Oliveros." His final meal consisted of: A cheeseburger, scrambled eggs, mashed potatoes with gravy, bacon, orange juice, fried steak, a fried pork chop, onion rings, french fries, a quarter fried chicken, and a bowl of shredded cheese. His final words were: "Thanks for the friends at the Polunsky Unit that helped me get though this, that didn't agree with my decision and still gave me their friendship. " In a hand-written statement he prepared two hours before his death, he acknowledged..."I have caused so much pain to so many people. I especially want to apologise to my victim's family for the life I took. I am only taking full responsibility for what I have done. I am truly sorry, and though some may not believe this...God only knows the truth, and for that...I know that's all that matter's. I am ashamed for what I've done." Alexander Martinex died by Lethal Injection at the age of 31.
