Earline (Shults) Barton
Mrs. Earline (Shults) Barton, 82 Durant, died this morning at the Four Seasons Nursing Home.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Coffey Funeral Home chapel, with the Rev. Don Myers and the Rev. Ken Stegall officiating. Burial will be in the Rosehill cemetery in Calera.
The family will be at Coffey Funeral Home from 7 until 8 p.m. Wednesday to receive friends.
Mrs. Barton was born in Grand Saline, Texas, Nov. 15, 1904. The daughter of Sam Huston Shults and Nora Lillie (Briggs) Shults, she cam to Oklahoma when she was 11.
A member of the Platter Holiness Church, she married Emmons Colvin Barton at Roberta on Nov. 7, 1920. He preceded her in death on June 30, 1977.
Survivors include a son, William Gerald (Buddy) Barton, Mead; four daughters, Mrs. T.W. (Lois) Pigg; and Mrs. Bob (Iida Lee Wanda) Williams, both of Oxnard, Calif.; Mrs. Jim (Lola Mae) Short, Santa Maria, Calif; and Margaret Melson, Tulsa; a sister, Mrs. Francis Dirickson, Boswell; a brother, T.C. "Bill" Shults, blue; 15 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by brother, Cecil Shults; two daughters, Mrs. Cecil (Patsy Laverne) Plyler; and Helen Barton; and a son, Troy Emmons Barton.
Bearers for the service will be Harlow Adamson, Bud Argo, Johnny Jones, James Lynn, Larry Robinson and Ralph Taylor.

Earline was born November 15, 1904 in Grand Saline, Texas. She was the daughter of the late Sam Huston Shults and Nora Lillie (Briggs) Shults; her grandparents were Francis Shults, Margaret (Jennings) Shults, John White Briggs, and Mary Elizabeth (Barnes) Briggs. Earline came to Oklahoma by covered wagon when she was 11. She was a member of the Platter Holiness Church and was a homemaker.
Earline married E.C. (Emmons Colvin) Barton in Roberta, Bryan County, Olkahoma on November 7, 1920. Their attendants were Murf Tucker and Lizzie Rowland. Their get-away car was horse and buggy. E.C. preceded her in death June 30, 1977 in Denison, Texas. He is buried in the Rosehill Cemetery, Calera, Bryan County, Oklahoma.
They had eight children: William Gerald (Buddy) Barton of Mead, Oklahoma; Mrs. T.W. (Lois) Pigg of Oxnard, California; Mrs. Jim (Lola Mae) Short of Santa Maria, California; Mrs. Bob (Iida Lee Wanda) Williams of Oxnard, California; Margaret Melson of Tulsa, Oklahoma; and those preceding her in death Troy Emmons Barton, buried in Holbert, Oklahoma; Mrs. Cecil (Patsy Laverne) Plyler who preceded herin death April 1, 1974 and is buried in Rosehill Cemetery, Calera, Oklahoma; and Helen Barton, buried in Silo Cemetery, Bryan County.
Earline had 15 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
Earline had one sister, Mrs. Francis Dirickson, Boswell, Oklahoma and two brothers, T.C. "Bill" Shults, blue, Oklahoma and Cecil Shults who preceded her in death and is buried in Silo Cemetery.
Mr. Don Myers and Mr. Ken Stegal will officiate, and Pall Bearers will be Harlow Adamson, Bud Argo, Johnny Jones, James Lynn, Larry Robinson and Ralph Taylor. Honorary Pall Bearers will be her Grandsons: Bryan Barton, Shane Barton, Rick Melson, Tommy Curtis, Greg Plyler, Rick Short, Alan Tubbs, Steve Tubbs.
Family Night will be Wednesday from 7-8 p.m. at Coffey Funeral Home.
