George Taylor Webster Foster was born October 3, 1875 in Boston, MA the son of Edward Morse Foster and Elizabeth Leonard Fitzpatrick. He died Jan 10, 1968 in New Haven, CT.
George was educated in the public schools of Boston. Learned the printers trade and followed the trade as Journeyman Printer until the outbreak of the Spanish American War. He enlisted for the Philippine Insurrection Sept 13, 1899 as a private in the 43rd United States Infantry and was sent to the Philippines where he served until mustered out, July 5, 1901, at Presidio, California. During his enlistment he was transferred to the Bugle Corps, later promoted to Corporal, served as Sergeant and acting Sergeant Major until mustered out of regiment. He received honorable mention on his discharge for duties performed during engagement at Calbayog, Samar, Jan 26, - Mar 26, - May 26 and June 8 to 17 1900. During the action at San Juan, Leyte, Sept 12 1900; at Ciabo, Leyte, Sept 12, 1900. During attack on Baybay, Leyte Nov 4 1900 and at battle at Cagumay, Leyte, Feb 28, 1901.
On returning from the war he settled in Waterville, Maine, accepting a position in the Printing Department of the Hollingsworth and Whitney Paper Company. He married Nita Emily Williams September 6, 1903, the daughter of Henri and Hannah Williams of Waterville, ME, a descendant of an original settler of that city, and of the Roger Williams of Rhode Island. Nita E. Williams was born Dec 22, 1875. Learned printing composition for an occupation and was also an accomplished musician and teacher of the piano.
George Foster, on account of ill health caused from ill effects of his army service, moved with his family onto a large farm situated in Weeks Mills (Deer Hill so called) in the town of China, Maine. On regaining his health after a few years on the farm he returned to his trade and accepted a position with the State of Connecticut in the Printing Department of the Connecticut State Reformatory, Cheshire, Connecticut. After a few years as an instructor he became foreman of the Printing Plant which position he now holds, April 1933.

Osborn Camp, Spanish American War Veterans, and Order of the Eastern Star, Rebekah Lodge. Offices held are: Master Mason of Dirigo Lodge, No 104, A.F. & A.M. Weeks Mills, Maine; Past High Priest of Triune Chapter, No 40, Royal Arch Masons of Southington, Conn; Past Thrice Illustrious Master of Temple Council, No 32 of Royal and Select Masters, Southington, Connecticut; Past Noble Grand of L.
