She was born Oct. 31, 1906, in Abingdon, the daughter of John N. and Millie DeWitt Thurman.
She married John T. Godsil on April 24, 1926, in Galesburg. He died in September 1969.
Surviving are one daughter, Norma Mummert, Macomb; one daughter-in-law, Jeri Godsil, Galesburg, who cared for her; one brother, Leland Thurman, Florence, Col.; five grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, and two sons, Jack D. Godsil and Donald L. Godsil.
She was a seamstress for J.C. Penney Co. for many years.
She was a member of Wataga Congregational Church, the Galesburg Women's Club and the National Association of Retired Federal Employees.
She bowled in the Senior League until she was 85.
The funeral was held at 1:30 p.m. Monday in Hinchliff-Pearson-West Chapel, Galesburg, with the Rev. Terry Hallock officiating. Burial was in Linwood Cemetery, Galesburg.
Memorials may be made to Wataga Congregational Church, The Galesburg Rescue Mission and Women's Shelter, the Knox County Nursing Home or a charity of the donor's choice.
