POSEY FRANKLIN CHEEK
Posey Franklin Cheeks, 76, died today, May 9, 1941 at 9:15 a.m. at his home on the Free Methodist campgrounds on Dixonville Drive, following a long illness.
Mr. Cheeks was born at Bethany, W. Va, coming to East Liverpool about 34 years ago. He was a coal miner during his early life but last worked as a kilnman at the Taylor, Smith & Taylor pottery.
He was a member of the Oakland Free Methodist church and the Mens Bible class.
He leaves his widow, Mrs. Katherine H. Patterson Cheeks; five daughters, Mrs. Carrie Seevers, Mrs. Clara Lisk, Mrs. Mabel Hood, Mrs Elsie McLaughlin and Mrs. Myra Clark, all of East Liverpool; a step-daughter, Mrs. Clara Taylor of Wellsburg, W. Va., a sister Mrs. Samuel Taylor of Cleveland; a brother, Samuel Cheeks of Thamesville, Ontario; 10 grand-children and 11 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Monday at 2 p.m. in the Oakland Free Methodist Church by Rev. C. S. Richardson, the pastor.
Burial will be in the Calcutta United Presbyterian cemetery. Friends may call Saturday or Sunday night at the home.

Posey Franklin Cheek was the son of Peter Randall Cheek and Mary A Lowe. He married Estella Starkey Higgins on Oct 12, 1886 in Wellsburg, W. Va. Stella was the daughter of John Dallas Higgins and Ella Vermillion. Stella died Feb 24, 1918 and is buried in Riverview Cemetery.
Posey married his second wife, widow Katherine "Kate" (Hughes) Patterson in the 1920's. Kate was the daughter of Hiram Hughes and Hortense Elizabeth Van Dyne. Kate was the widow of her first husband, William Forbes, and her second husband, James Miller Patterson. Kate died in 1945 and is buried in Calcutta United Presbyterian Cemetery.
