After a short battle with cancer, Linda Smith Behrndt, 79, of Downingtown, passed away on Tuesday, March 9, 2021 at her home, surrounded by her loving family. Linda was born January 30, 1942 and was the tenth child of the late Chester Grant, Sr. and Jessie Mae Smith. She is survived by her children, Adam Neuhauser (Kathy) of Atglen and Julie Behrndt (Joy) of Gibbstown, NJ. She is also survived by her longtime companion, John Swartz; brother, Gordon Smith of Berwyn; sisters, Jean Manning of Downingtown and Esther Wuertz of Honey Brook; and many nieces, nephews, and great nieces/nephews. She was predeceased by her brothers, John, Chester, and Roy “Boots” Smith; and sisters, Minnie Van Lew, Florence McKeever, and Mabel Haines. Linda was a 1959 graduate of Downingtown High School and prior to her retirement in 2011, worked at DNB First. She will be remembered by many for the cookies and pretzels she loved to make. A memorial service for Linda will be held at 11 am on Saturday, March 13th under the Outdoor Tent at the James J. Terry Funeral Home, 736 E. Lancaster Ave., Downingtown, where her family will receive relatives and friends from 9:45 to 10:45 am. Interment will be private for the family.
