Obituary for Ruth Gladson
Ruth Arlene Gladson, 82, of rural Bloomfield, Iowa passed away on March 10, 2021 at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. She was born May 9, 1938 in Ottumwa, Iowa to Frank Arthur and Edith Lucille Fetrow Rysdam. Ruth graduated from the Indian Hills Nursing Program in May 1983 and worked as an RN (2nd Shift Charge Nurse) at Northeast Regional Medical Center in Kirksville, retiring in 2003. Ruth was a very good and attentive nurse, something she was very proud of.
Ruth enjoyed growing a garden every year and canning all her vegetables. She was an avid reader, enjoyed cross stitch and other hand-work, and loved spending time with her family. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren brought her much joy. She will be greatly missed by family and friends.
She is survived by her son, Ronald (Becky) Gladson of Bloomfield; two grandchildren, Cheryl (Chris) Veatch of Bloomfield, Thomas (Anna) Gladson of Rapid City, South Dakota; two great-grandchildren, Avery and Brylee Veatch; three brothers, Rex (Becky) Rysdam of Bloomfield, Darrell (Linda) Rysdam of Bloomfield, Don (Goldie) Rysdam of Drakesville; sister, Carolyn (Ron) Golick of Hastings, Nebraska; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Frank and James Rysdam.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, March 16, 2021 at the Wagler Funeral Home in Bloomfield with Rev. Donna Olinger officiating. The funeral will be live streamed on the Wagler Funeral Home Facebook page. Burial will be at the Drakesville Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m. on Monday with the family present to greet friends from 5-7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. A memorial has been established to the family and will be designated at a later date.
