John “Jack” Toner Scott, 85, of Anderson, passed away at home on Friday, March 12, 2021. He was born on July 12, 1935 in Indianapolis and was the son of Jane Toner Scott and John Elmer Scott.
Jack was a graduate of Indiana University, where he was a member of Phi Gamma Delta Fraternity, and following that served in the US Army. He was an attorney and also served as Editor of the Anderson Herald. He was affiliated with First Presbyterian Church in Anderson, served as a board member of the Anderson Red Cross, board member of Maplewood Cemetery, president of the Madison County Bar Association, and was the Founding Contributor of the Madison County Community Foundation.
Jack is survived by his wife, Anna Cecelia (Drilling) Scott whom he married on September 9, 1961; three sons; Jeffrey Toner Scott of Indianapolis, John Edward Scott of Zionsville, and Gregory Alan (Audrey) Scott of South Bend; and granddaughter, Sophia Ann Scott.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and two sisters, Nancy (Scott) Mulvihill and Lucinda (Scott) Shafer.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 17, 2021 at 10:30 AM at Rozelle-Johnson Funeral Service with Rev. Kevin Bausman. Burial will follow at East Maplewood Cemetery.
