Barry was born at home in Columbiana on Memorial Day, May 30, 1946. He graduated from Columbiana High School in 1964 and was shortly thereafter called to duty in the U.S. Army. He served eight years of activity duty, rising to the rank of Specialist E6. He served three tours of duty in Vietnam, mostly in the Chu Lai combat area. He was awarded the Bronze Star while there for leading a group of Vietnamese civilians out of a Viet Cong mortar barrage to safety.
In civilian life Barry worked most of his career as a new and used car salesman with various Youngstown area dealerships. He retired in 2010 and found most pleasure in continued association with a number of veterans organizations, to include the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Barry was preceded in death by his parents, Vivian J. (Oliver) and Harold L. Logan.
He is survived by four siblings, two sisters, Joy (Kevin) Noll of Cortland, and Sarah (Clyde) Davis of Columbiana; two brothers, Jack (Charlotte) Logan of Columbiana, and Thomas (June) Logan of Canfield; and a number of nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
As his last contribution to the America that he loved, he has donated his body to the continued study of medicine at the Cleveland Clinic.
A private family Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
Local arrangements were handled by the Stark Memorial Funeral Home.
