Mildred Irene Raymond, 74, of rural Elk City, Kansas passed away Sunday, October 21, 2007 at the Golden Keys Nursing Home in Neodesha, Kansas.
Irene was born January 22, 1933 in Salus, Arkansas to Manley and Effie (Bryson) Warren. She was raised and educated in Oark, Arkansas where she graduated from Oark High School in 1952. Irene married Joe Earl Raymond on January 2, 1960 in Miami, Oklahoma. They moved to the LaFontaine, Kansas area in 1960 where they owned and operated a farm until Mr. Raymond's death on November 19, 2002. She was a homemaker and a member of the LaFontaine Christian Church.
Irene is survived by her daughter, Helen Travis and son-in-law, Robert Travis of Chanute, Kansas; grandson, Kyle Travis of Chanute, Kansas; one sister, Juanita Brinkman of Coffeyville, Kansas; and four brothers, Argus "Doc" Warren of LaMarr, Arkansas, Delbert "Pete" Warren of Belfair, Washington, Kenneth "Kenny" Warren of Quinlan, Texas, and Robert "Bobby" Warren of Clarksville, Arkansas.
She was also preceded in death by her parents, one daughter, Donna Jo Raymond, two brothers, Hartsel Warren and Arnold Warren.
Visitation hours for Irene will be Wednesday, October 24, 2007 from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. with the family receiving friends from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Penwell-Gabel Webb Rodrick Chapel.
Funeral services for Mildred Irene Raymond will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, October 25, 2007 at the LaFontaine Christian Church with Reverend Kenny Richards and Reverend Brian Rothgeb officiating. Burial will follow at the White Cemetery south of LaFontaine.
The family has suggested memorial contributions to the White Cemetery Care Fund in care of Gail Kimzey, 6075 CR 1950, Elk City, Kansas 67344. Memorials may also be left with the funeral home staff.
