3351 Lance Corporal T L Bourke, 1st Battalion the Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers. He deployed with his battalion to South Africa for the Second Anglo Boer War, sailing on the Catalonia on 5 Nov 1899, arriving at the Cape about the 30 Nov 1899, and were sent to Durban. Along with the 1st Border Regiment, 1st Connaught Rangers, and 1st Dublin Fusiliers, they formed the 5th Brigade under Major General Fitzroy Hart, part of the Ladysmith relief force. Lance Corporal Bourke was killed in their first major action at the battle of Colenso on 15 Dec 1899 where the battalion lost 18 killed and had 86 wounded.
