"Instantly Killed

Wednesday morning A. C. Melugin was killed by a train on the Katy road at the public road crossing in the suburbs of Whitewright. Mr. Melugin was in a buggy with the curtains on, and did not see the train coming in time to prevent the accident. The engine struck the buggy in the center and broke it into splinters. Mr. Melugin was thrown about forty feet by the force of the engine, and his head struck the cattle guard. His skull was crushed and death was instantaneous. The body was taken up and carried to Whitewright, and his family notified. The remains were buried yesterday at the cemetery a few miles this side of Savoy, near where he has lived for so many years.

Mr. Melugin had lived in this country for a long number of years, and was about fifty years old. He was one of the counties best citizens, and his death is deeply regretted. He leaves a large family."
