Ada was the third of five children born to Luke Popple and Lena Giebrich Popple. She was raised at Burlington, Iowa where her father was engaged as a cashier/clerk. The family relocated to Des Moines, Iowa some time before 1910 where her father was a railroad clerk and where Ada was a telephone operator. In 1920, Ada was engaged as a life insurance cashier; and, in 1930 an assistant treasurer at Equitable Life Insurance Company of Iowa, a position she would hold through 1940. Ada married to widower James Windsor Hubbell on 14 November 1944 at Des Moines. He was president of F M Hubbell Son and Company, Secretary Treasurer of Equitable Life Insurance Company of Iowa, and Chairman of Board Bankers Trust Company. Ada and James had no children and made their home on Casady Drive.
