Kathrine grew up in Humboldt Park in Chicago where life centered around Trinity Danish Lutheran Church and the Danish American Athletic Club. As a young working woman in the ‘50s she was an avid collector of autographs, waiting outside of theaters and hotels on her lunchbreaks for movie stars to appear. Kathrine will be remembered for her good humor and her laughter, for her “oof” when playing backyard volleyball, her “ooh ha”, and her love of Fannie May. Some of her fondest memories were of spending time with her sisters, family and friends in Door County and Washington Island WI. Kathrine loved to travel and was fortunate to be able to visit Cuba, Denmark, the Caribbean, Alaska and Mexico in her lifetime. A product of the Depression, she was always content with whatever she had.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to The Danish Home (https://danishhomeofchicago.org/), or St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital (https://www.stjude.org)
Arrangements entrusted to Friedrich-Jones Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 44 S. Mill St., Naperville, IL 60540. Interment is private. A memorial celebration will be held at a future date when weather and Covid concerns are more favorable.
