Laura Isabelle Hunt, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Cranston, was born at Keota, Iowa in 1871 and went to her eternal home from Topeka, June 12, 1943, at the age of 71 years, 9 months and 9 days.
Her early life was spent in Iowa where she attended school and grew to womanhood. She came to Kansas and in 1899 she married James R Hunt of Blue Rapids. To this union two children were born, a daughter Eunice of the home and a son Ray who is in the armed service of his country, now stationed at Ft Riley Kansas.
Besides her husband and children she leaves three sisters Mrs. G W Adams of Blue Rapids; Mrs. J F Adams of Frankfort and Mrs. C P Tyler of Osawatomie and a number of other relatives and a host of friends. Her body was laid to rest by the side of her parents in Fairmont Cemetery in Blue Rapids.
For many years the family lived happily on their farm in Marshall County near Marysville. Mrs. Hunt was a loving mother and wife and a genuine neighbor. About four and one-half years ago, the family moved to Topeka. Mrs. Hunt had been in failing health for many months and just as the twilight shadows deepened on Saturday evening, the final summons came.
Some have painted great pictures, many have written poetic lines and others have reached social heights, but the supreme desire of Mrs. Hunt's life was to live beautifully and helpfully. She loved mercy and truth. Her life and character expressed a fine inner spirit and the quite power of her personality has been felt as a benediction upon her loved ones and friends by whom she will be deeply missed.
No sacrifice was to great, no time to busy for her in ministering to lighten the burdens of others. Kind, loyal and cheerful the influence of her unselfish life will live on as an abiding inspiration in the hearts of those who knew her and loved her.
The body was brought to Blue Rapids from Topeka and funeral services conducted at the Methodist Church by the pastor Rev Otis Buss art last Thursday afternoon at three o'clock. Burial was in the Fairmont Cemetery.
From the obituary in the Blue Rapids Times.
