About Daniel, Jeremiah Pvt.
Was called Jerry. Jeremiah Daniel, Enlisted at the very young age of 16 plus years with with two of his brothers, Lloyd, and Nathan Daniel's, into the Unions 9th Kansas Cavalry.­­ For some unknown reason Jeremiah, was sent home, I am sure by his older brothers.­­ He then will enlist into the 15th Kansas Cavalry, at a later date.­­ The fourth brother to my G.­­ Grandmother Elizabeth "Daniel" Rogers, will be Robert Daniel, he will serve the Union and what will become the State of Kansas in 1861, at Fort Belmont, In Woodson County, Kansas.­­ An Accident will befall the Daniel family in the midst of the Civil War.­­ While home on leave, on Aug.­­ 28th 1864 in Linn Co.­­ Kansas, while out caring for his horse and livestock, Robert Daniel, was struck and killed by lighting.­­ While serving almost 2 1/2 years close to home, defending the Big Sandy and the township of Belmont, Woodson Co.­ in general.­ Then to have this happen.­­ American Civil War Soldiers about Jerry Daniel Name: Jerry Daniel , Residence: Burlington, Kansas Enlistment Date: 1 Apr 1864 Side Served: Union State Served: Kansas Birth Date: 1 Jan 1845 Death Date: 29 Mar 1936 Service Record: Enlisted as a Private on 1 April 1864 at the age of 19.­ Enlisted in Company I, 15th Cavalry Regiment Kansas on 6 Aug 1864.­ Mustered Out Company I, 15th Cavalry Regiment Kansas on 19 Oct 1865.­ Sources: 72,250 comments by Cliff Hammond
