Clyde started life in Shillington, PA until his father's untimely death @ age four. His mother returned home with him to Zion Grove where he grew up alongside her family, including his youngest uncle who a few months younger than him. He attended Nuremberg High School when WW II broke out and made an early enlistment into the service of our country. He served aboard the USS Savo Island, in the Pacific 7th fleet, reaching Seaman Ist class as an electrician's mate. After discharge he enrolled at Bloomsburg Teachers College, graduating in 1950. Shortly afterward, he met the love of his life, Mary O'Rourke who after a short courtship agreed to marriage on April 14, 1952. They moved to Nuremberg and began raising their nine children: John, William, Anne, Joseph, Patrice, Kathryn, Mary Elizabeth, Charles, and Edward. He worked as a school teacher in Nuremberg then West Hazleton, held the junior high athletic director position for a time, was a volunteer for the Nuremberg Fire Company, and a member/ held office positions including presidential term with the Tri-County Lions club. He retired early due to health issues yet was lucky enough to enjoy the company of three grandchildren before he passed too soon.
