James Edward Green was born September 13, 1925, in Nacogdoches, Texas. He entered eternal rest March 22, 2021 in Cut and Shoot, Texas. He was 95 years 6 months and 10 days of age. He was the oldest child of William Charles (Bill) Green and Nora Millie Conner Green.

James is preceded in death by his parents, stepmother Loyce Carswell Green, brother Prentice Green, wife Betty Jean Jasper Green, second wife Faye Spinks Green, and sister Ida Jean Green Gandy. He is survived by daughter Karen Elizabeth Thompson and husband Lang, brother Charles William (Charlie) Green and wife Billie, granddaughters April Thompson Jackson and husband Jason, Lisa Thompson Hodges and husband Owen. Great grand children Madison and Conner Jackson. Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

James was a 1943 graduate of Conroe High School.

He served in the U.S. Navy as an Aviation Machinist Mate on a B-26 Bomber stationed on Guam. James was a respected mechanic and with his brother Charlie ran Green’s Auto Service for many years. He was a 70-year member of American Legion Post 411, he held all of the post offices multiple times including Commander.

James was a founding member of the Cut-N-Shoot VFD. He was the inaugural Mayor of City of Cut and Shoot, Texas. James is a member of Groceville Baptist Church. He served on the Board of Directors for County Line Cemetery. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, and gardener.

Services will be held at 1:00 PM Monday March 29, 2021 at Groceville Baptist Church. Visitation will be held at the church from 11:30 to 1:00 before the services. Internment will follow at County Line Cemetery. We wish to give special thanks to his caregivers: Patty Ghaffar, Maria Hammock, Elizabeth Sandoval, Judy Perry, Brendon Smith, Caleb Hammock, and Gabriel Sandoval. Pall Bearers: Owen Hodges, Jason Jackson, Conner Jackson, Bill Green, Larry Green, and Keith Armstrong.
