He was born August 15, 1932. He was a 1950 graduate of Fayetteville High School, Fayetteville, North Carolina and received his BS degree from the University of North Carolina in 1959.
He also received an MS degree in Business Education from Southern Illinois University in 1970 and MBA from Auburn University, Montgomery in 1979.
He spent 5 years in the US Navy during the Korean War and later was commissioned in the USAF Medical Service Corps and served in Vietnam in medical evacuation and was awarded the Bronze Star and Air Medal.
During his 23 years of combined military service, he was awarded many other medals and ribbons. He retired as a Major in May 1977.
He was a long-time member of Dalraida United Methodist Church, active in the United Methodist Men, and served on numerous committees. He also was a long-time substitute teacher primarily at Booker T. Washington Magnet High School in Montgomery, AL.
He loved the students, faculty and staff at this school and enjoyed his time there. David was also an avid photographer. He was preceded in death by his wife Jane Davis Fry and his parents, Vivian and James Fry.
A private family gathering will be held at the Dalraida United Methodist Church. Immediately following the family service, interment of his ashes will be in the church garden columbarium with his wife's ashes.
