Mrs. Emma R. (Klopp) Batdorf died suddenly on Sunday night at her home at 217 South Cherry Street, Myerstown. She was 85 years of age and had suffered for some time with a heart condition. She was about to retire when she was stricken and she expired before a physician could be summoned. She was a member of the Evangelical United Brethren Church, Myerstown, and the Myerstown Auxiliary of the Tulpehocken Branch of the Order of Independent Americans. Her husband, William Batdorf. died some years ago. She leaves four children, Oscar, Texas, and Mrs. Miles Beck, and Adam and Harry Batdorf, all of Myerstown. There are six grandchildren, Messiah Klopp, Mt. Aetna, is a brother. She was a daughter of the late Adam and Rossana (Wagner) Klopp. [Lebanon Daily News, May 8, 1950, Page 13]
