Miles Mason Jervis Birth Quarter of the Year: Oct-Nov-Dec 1877 Prestwich, Lancashire, England
Miles Mason Jarvis Baptism 03 Feb 1878 • Christ Church, Bradford, Lancashire, England.
Son of Thomas and Mary Jervis nee Toft who lived at 146 Ashton Old Rd, Openshaw, Lancashire. Though Thomas had been born in Staffordshire. He was 40 and a Shopkeeper. Miles was only 4 years old in 1881.

Miles does not show in the 1901 or 1911 Census which would fit in with them being travelling Fair's people.
Notes on The Regent Cinema in Brownhills include the following sentence - 'As in almost every other part of Britain, the inhabitants of Brownhills first saw films as presented by travelling showmen at the fairground. Among the showmen and fairground folk who came to Brownhills Wake were the Jervis brothers: Miles, Edward and Tom.'

The Jervis family originating from Yorkshire were Pottery Marketeers, and because of this would attend goose fairs and such which also provided entertainment, including Film Shows. Showing films on 'the road' became troublesome, and so Edward Jervis put down roots in the Cannock area, renting a Hall in Chasetown which he eventually sold to Miles Jervis. Miles later moved the the Palace in Walsall Wood with a different brother. The Regent Cinema in Brownhills was owned by the Jervis brothers and their offspring.

Miles Jervis in the 1939 Census.
Age 62 - The Gables, Bridge Cross Rd, Chase Terrace, Lichfield, Staffordshire, England.
Occupation Cinema Proprietor & Manager, with wife Elizabeth A Jervis aged 50 Unpaid Domestic Duties.
